A set of practices for navigating complexity with greater clarity, presence, and coherence. Together, we’ll learn to activate and deepen our sensing capacities, leading to wiser and more aligned actions for transformative change.
Training description
This Foundation Training weaves together theoretical input, experiential practice, reflection, and collective inquiry. Through small-group and whole-group exercises, practical application, outdoor time entering in relationship with the ‘more-than-human’, and space for integration, participants are introduced to essential approaches for working with complexity, societal transformation, and collective change, all towards greater coherence.
Throughout the course, we explore how expanding our perception and deepening our awareness can support wiser, more grounded, and more coherent action in times of uncertainty - locally, regionally or internationally.
Participants will gain practical insight into a range of methods, practices, and applications for working with individual, organisational, and societal dynamics. Themes explored throughout the training include:
An introduction to foundational aspects of systems transformation
An introduction to the origins and practice of Systems Sensing and Systemic Constellations
The role and power of representation
The importance of intention and guiding questions
The different phases of a practice or process: before, during, and after
Understanding the possibilities and limitations of this practice
The difference between Systems Sensing and Systemic Constellations
Intergenerational and historical dimensions of systems and societal change
The interconnected and interrelated dynamics between the individual and collective layers of societal change
The importance, wisdom, and influence of land and place in relation to diverse societal issues and challenges
Personal practice, self-care, and inner alignment as the essential foundations for transformative work
Essential spheres and capacities for navigating societal transition consciously and collectively
This training supports participants in strengthening their capacity to perceive, sense, and respond to complex situations in more nuanced and embodied ways. Alongside foundational concepts and frameworks, the course places strong emphasis on hands-on experience and practical application within organisational, relational, and societal contexts.
The training is open to anyone interested in socio-ecological transformation and collective change. No prior experience is required.
“Superb session, expertly facilitated. I took so much from the session. I feel very nourished. Everything was superb, from the...care that is taken by all the team to make you feel welcome, to the facilitation masterclass from Luea who held the group so beautifully to allow the learning to unfold, or not, without judgement or pressure. I’ve learnt about systems constellations and also learnt more about myself than I have in a long time. Thank you…Where have you been all my life!”
Why this training matters in our current times of multiple polycrises
This Foundation Training is for leaders, activists, facilitators, and changemakers working at the forefront of socio-ecological transformation.
Many of the systems we are part of: social, organisational, and ecological are under increasing strain and turbulence. In these times of uncertainty and deep planetary change, habitual ways of leading and collaborating are no longer fit for purpose, they cannot meet the complexities of these times.
Instead, the capacity to meet and be with a range of systemic challenges: by listening deeply; holding multiple perspectives; sensing underlying dynamics; staying present in tension; and responding with care and discernment, is becoming ever more essential. This Foundation Training supports participants in cultivating these capacities, supporting them in navigating complex situations with greater clarity, groundedness, and ease, which leads to more aligned decisions and actions, serving the health of the whole system.
These capacities are part of what we call our ‘wider ways of knowing’ and they are powerful tools for navigating the subtleties of complexity, dissonance and multifaceted situations. Through practices such as systems sensing, systemic constellations for societal change, and relational engagement with land, place and the ‘more-than-human’, participants are introduced to ways of perceiving and working that go beyond purely intellectual analysis, discourse and debate. Our Foundation Training invites a deepening of awareness across multiple dimensions: cognitive, relational, embodied, emotional, intuitive, spiritual and systemic.
Combining practical exercises, group processes, reflection, and experiential learning, the course offers foundational tools and practices for working with complexity, collective transformation, and societal change, both within ourselves and in the systems and communities we are part of.

Course lead
Luea Ritter is a transformative process designer, systemic coach and action researcher. Through cross-sector and international engagements in a diverse medley of fields, she developed a high sensitivity for context-based cultural and social dynamics.
Her approach weaves together leadership and organizational development, awareness-based practices, healing arts and earth-based wisdom traditions to foster multi-sector collaboration towards socio-ecological transformation.
Luea is the co-founder of Collective Transitions, dedicated to building shared capacities for fostering and maintaining transformational shifts. She is a vital driver of the World Ethic Forum, an international organization committed to fostering a culture of care and kinship. There, she co-stewards the Firekeeper Circle process, its action research and the long-term intention. As co-founder and chair, she also serves the Nile Journeys, a platform for transboundary dialogue and regenerative collaboration in the Nile Basin. She works with a wide range of clients, especially societal change and multi-stakeholder initiatives such as the Youth Negotiator Academy, World Future Council or the Global Ecovillage Network.
Inspired by her trans-disciplinary and trans-cultural journey, and respect for the (subtle) wisdom of systems, Luea is dedicated to cultivating the conditions for embracing our wider ways of knowing as key ingredients for building and maintaining coherence in social fields, which is also the focus of her PhD.

The practice of systems sensing is a broad term for a range of somatic approaches that expand our field of awareness and engage with a system’s wisdom. Sensing a system can be understood as a visceral aptitude that draws on innate human capacities for being in relation with, listening deeply to, and momentarily embodying the elements of a system.
Sensing uses extended and multiple ways of knowing to understand and connect with different aspects of a situation or context. These ways of knowing can be somatic, emotional, visual, visceral, relational, and spatial, and both individuals and groups can use them.
The practice of systemic constellations for societal change allows us to visualise a system's interaction patterns and interdependent relationships. By making these dynamics visible, we widen our understanding and obtain a greater variety of choices in how we respond. By revealing what often goes unsaid, has not been acknowledged, or challenges that may lie hidden, Systemic Constellations can support leadership in identifying root causes and leverage points for greater collaboration and creating and maintaining greater coherence within complex systems.
The practice of working with land and place invites us to widen our felt and cognitive understanding of interrelatedness and interbeing. Land and place, including the subtle and more-than-human realm, are important dimensions of welcoming subtle layers - both present and past: Especially when working with sensitive, intertwined and multilayered issues, this approach–deeply rooted in indigenous ways of living and being from across the globe–becomes critical to open up to and start seeing and respecting it as kin’s holding vital knowledge and wisdom for taking long-term viable decisions and actions.
