Being with Climate Grief
As global climate change accelerates, those working on the frontlines of societal change are especially confronted with stark realities of climate loss. Without a way to “be with” challenging experiences and emotions with the support of others, it may become increasingly hard to move forward and find the inner strengths again and again to face each day with resilience and rigor.
How do we grieve together and what are resources and practices we can call upon? How can we support each other in times of grieving?
The 5-part series, Being with Climate Grief, is dedicated to building capacities for being with loss and mounting climate anxiety, in order to stay present and move through these times of immense change, in greater connection with ourselves, others and the world we care for so deeply. During the five sessions we will introduce and explore embodied practices and concrete tools to be with grief and loss as individuals and as a collective, while listening to each other's stories, questions and challenges. Between sessions there will be an option to explore prompts, deepen practices and connect with fellow participants. This experiential-based series is an invitation to activate and build our sensing muscles, to be present with body and mind, and to help widen the window of tolerance to listen to what arises.
These times require us to grow in the ways we relate to and treat ourselves, each other and the natural world, in order to heal fractures and pains on the individual and collective level. By honoring and acknowledging “what is” more fully, we can free up energy to move forward with greater strength, resilience and creativity, opening up possibilities that we have yet to see. Daring to meet the grief together and through each other’s stories can be seen as a first movement to reconnect with life itself, embracing our interdependence and connection to the natural world.
Sitting Around the Fire Series
Sitting around the fire series offers practices to address and process topics that require our shared presence and attention so we don't have to carry the weight of them alone.
