Twelve Nights / Rauhnächte

The Twelve Nights: An intentional space to experience and reflect on the past year and transition to the coming year.

From December 20th, 2024 till January 7th, 2025.

Join us for a moment of pause to celebrate and honor the past year while intentionally welcoming the new year.

We meet twice online during this time with an opening and closing circle and stay in contact via signal through the duration.

OPENING CIRCLE: December 20th, 2024, 9:00am PST (San Francisco) / 6:00 pm CET (Brussels)

CLOSING CIRCLE: January 6th, 2025, 9:00am PST (San Francisco) / 6:00pm CET (Brussels)

DURING THE 12 NIGHTS
During the other days, you will receive daily inspiration with the theme of the day, significance and reflection prompts. Everyone is invited to share reflections, insights and emerging questions in a group chat.

Each day’s theme helps us to focus on a specific aspect of this journey between the years. For example, letting go of the old, becoming silent, or healing relationships. Additionally, each day represents a month (January till December) and so it's also thought of as a way of sensing into the quality for the coming twelve months ahead.

HISTORY
The twelve nights, also known as “Rauhnächte” in German or the holy nights, are an old custom in european indigenous and pagan cultures. Regional customs say that the veils are thinner to the invisible or spirit world during the twelve days between the old and new year. Each region has their own unique customs, rituals and ways to celebrate and give meaning to this space between as well as use different names for them (e.g. Glöckelnächte, Innernächte or Unternächtes). All customs share a common purpose: it is a time of reflection, cleansing and preparing for the new year.
