Join our community of practitioners for a new practice with special guest Anna Maggi who will introduce and invite us to explore the method of Visual Sensing.
Visual Sensing is an aesthetic-embodied method based on listening deeply to the messages and intuitions perceived by the body and expressing them visually.
Using embodiment practices and system sensing, we will express of those sensations and perceptions visually with mixed techniques. Visual Sensing helps to achieve self-awareness through the visual representation of a particular situation and to undertake a process of understanding and re-appropriation of the subject.
Some suggested supplies for drawing practice:
Paper: I would recommend working on large sheets of paper, as large as possible for your space and needs. (A large sheet of paper can be made from: one or more newspaper pages, wrapping paper and several sheets of printer's paper glued together, or from parts of a cardboard packing box). We will need 4 paper supports. You can very well prepare 1 or 2 large supports and then use normal printer sheets or other supports that are easier to find.
Markers, pens, pencils or crayons of different colors: Use what you have at home or can borrow.
Glue or tape and scissors
A headband or scarf that you can use as a blindfold
Apart from this, you can also optionally equip yourself:
Coloured paper
Paper cutouts with colors or textures that are calling you.
Any other materials, such as chalk or crayons, that you would like to experiment with.
Attention: If you want to use ink or water colors make sure that your paper or cardboard support is strong enough and that your colors dry relatively quickly.
Remember that no drawing experience is required to do Visual Sensing!
